Joe Hartsfield's passion for earthwork runs deep, shaped by his upbringing on a farm and reinforced through years of hands-on experience. After serving in the United States Air Force, he returned to farming until 1997, further strengthening his lifelong connection to the land. As a developer, Joe brings a unique perspective to site preparation, combining technical expertise with strategic insight into land transformation.
With a diverse career spanning multiple industries—including flight school operations, aircraft brokerage and management, home building, land development, and pre-clinical research—Joe has honed the business acumen and leadership skills essential for launching and growing Hartsfield Contracting Company. His extensive experience in business startups and management serves as the foundation for HCC’s commitment to excellence in grading and utility services.
Joe takes particular pride in working alongside his son to build a company positioned as an industry leader for years to come. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, hunting, spending time at the lake with family, and contributing to community economic growth and policy development.
ANDREW HARTSFIELD

Andrew Hartsfield co-founded Hartsfield Contracting Company with his father in 2021, beginning as the company's sole employee. Through determination and a strong work ethic, he took on clearing and basic grading projects, laying the groundwork for the company’s rapid expansion. By 2022, HCC had grown into large-scale grading for new subdivisions and commercial developments, and by 2023, it had evolved into a full-service operation, adding water, stormwater, and sewer installation to its capabilities. Today, Hartsfield Contracting Company is recognized as a turnkey provider for complete grading and utility projects.
A graduate of East Carolina University’s Business School, Andrew is a natural leader with a strong blend of practical skills, management expertise, and logistical acumen. His ability to problem-solve, optimize operations, and inspire his team has been instrumental in the company’s success. Under his leadership, HCC is on a strong trajectory for continued growth, positioning itself as a leader in the grading and utility industry.
Outside of work, Andrew enjoys hunting, spending time at the lake, and creating lasting memories with his family. He cherishes time with his wife and young son, embracing every opportunity to share meaningful experiences. Whether on the job, on the water, or at home, Andrew’s dedication to family and the outdoors mirrors the same passion and commitment that drive his work at Hartsfield Contracting.
